Postoperative delirium under general anesthesia with remimazolam versus propofol: A review and analysis of clinical trials

Updated

Abstract

A total of 1107 patients were analyzed, revealing no significant difference in postoperative delirium between remimazolam and propofol (odds ratio 0.92).

  • The incidence of postoperative delirium did not differ between remimazolam and propofol.
  • Remimazolam was associated with a lower incidence of intraoperative hypotension compared to propofol (odds ratio 0.31).
  • No significant differences were observed in other secondary outcomes such as time to extubation and awakening time.
  • In older patients (≥60 years), the incidence of postoperative delirium also showed no significant difference between the two agents.
