Remimazolam’s link to delirium and thinking skills: A review of clinical trials

Abstract

A total of 3598 patients were analyzed across 23 randomized controlled trials.

  • The incidence of delirium was not significantly different between remimazolam and other sedatives used during general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
  • No significant differences in cognitive function were observed between remimazolam and the control group on the first and third postoperative days.
  • Remimazolam showed better Mini-Mental State Examination scores on the seventh postoperative day compared to the control group.
  • The type of surgery was found to significantly influence the incidence of delirium.
