Delirium after hip surgery in frail elderly patients given remimazolam or propofol: A randomized trial

Updated

Abstract

The incidence of postoperative delirium was 4.4% in the remimazolam group compared to 17.6% in the propofol group.

  • Remimazolam tosylate may reduce the risk of postoperative delirium in frail elderly patients undergoing hip surgery.
  • Patients receiving remimazolam had a significantly lower incidence of hypotension after induction compared to those receiving propofol.
  • Fewer patients in the remimazolam group required vasopressors during the procedure.
  • Remimazolam was associated with significantly less burst suppression during surgery compared to propofol.
