How limiting feeding times affects high-fat diet problems in fruit flies

Abstract

Flies on a 12-hour time-restricted feeding schedule showed lower total triglyceride content and circulating glucose compared to those fed ad libitum.

  • Time-restricted feeding (TRF) may help reduce metabolic dysfunction associated with high-fat diets.
  • Flies with metabolic damage exhibited lower expression of Nlaz, an insulin resistance marker, after TRF.
  • Weight loss was observed in flies subjected to TRF compared to those with unrestricted feeding.
  • TRF is associated with improved amplitude of circadian rhythms, particularly in peripheral clocks.
