Links between Life's Essential 8 health factors and death from any cause or heart disease in US adults

Updated

Abstract

A higher Life's Essential 8 (LE8) score is associated with a 40% reduction in the risk of all-cause mortality among US adults.

  • Participants with a high LE8 score (80-100) had a 40% lower risk of all-cause mortality compared to those with a low score (0-49).
  • A 10-point increase in LE8 score is linked to a 14% lower risk of all-cause mortality.
  • The risk of cardiovascular mortality decreased by 54% in individuals with high CVH compared to those with low CVH.
  • During a median follow-up of 113 months, 2,942 deaths were recorded, including 738 from cardiovascular disease.
  • The study included 23,110 participants aged 20 years or older, with a weighted mean age of 47 years.
