Oropouche virus mRNA vaccines provide full protection against related virus strains in mice

Updated

Abstract

Essence

A contemporary lineage-matched Oropouche mRNA-LNP vaccine fully protected mice against lethal prototype and outbreak-strain challenge.

Evidence

Preclinical experiments in BALB/c and A129 mice tested two OROV envelope-glycoprotein mRNA-LNP vaccines for antibody, T cell, neutralization, and lethal-challenge protection.

Caveat

The evidence is limited to mouse models, and the prototype-lineage vaccine gave only partial cross-protection against the outbreak strain.
