Oral Nutritional Supplements and Body Weight and Muscle Changes in People Using GLP-1 Medicines: Real-World Data

Updated

Abstract

ONS use was associated with significantly greater reductions in BMI (-1.4 kg/m), body fat (-8.4 lbs), and total weight (-10.1 lbs).

  • ONS users experienced a 2-percentage-point decrease in body fat ratio (p<0.05).
  • Despite losing 5.5 lbs of lean body mass (LBM), the fat-to-LBM loss ratio remained favorable at 2.3 (p<0.01).
  • The most significant benefits were observed in patients younger than 50 years and those compliant with ONS.
  • Improved outcomes were noted in patients treated with GLP-1RA for 181-365 days and those without diabetes.
