Updated

Abstract

Only 1 out of 87 websites included all 5 mandatory items for advertisements related to GLP-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) used off-label for weight loss.

  • 83% of the websites featured exaggerated advertisements regarding the use of GLP-1RAs for weight loss.
  • Only 9% of the websites indicated that they were ineligible for relief from adverse drug reactions.
  • Approximately 69% of websites implied that no exercise or dietary therapy was necessary for weight loss.
  • 24% of the websites presented the use of GLP-1RAs as a natural and healthy method for weight loss.
  • The average quality score of the websites, as measured by the DISCERN instrument, was 32.6, indicating low quality overall.
