Pupil reactions to light linked to special eye cells and vision focus in children

Updated

Abstract

The mean functional melanopsin threshold was 6.2 ± 4.5 cd m.

  • Pupil responses showed a graded reaction to increasing intensity of blue light stimuli.
  • Significant associations were found between 6 s post-illumination pupil response (PIPR) and early area under the curve (AUC) metrics with 24-hour light exposure for high intensity blue light.
  • No associations were observed between pupil metrics and refractive error in the studied children.
  • Responses to blue stimuli were significantly increased in the second trial compared to the first trial.
